Marty Wheeler
Pace General Manager

I’ve been in the freight industry for nearly 14 years, in a mixture of operations, sales management and branch management roles. In my time, I've learned plenty, developed a love for the industry – and done plenty of hard work cleaning up pallets and sweeping floors!

Now, as a Pace General Manager, I oversee a fantastic team of hard-working, highly sociable and caring individuals. Their commitment to getting the job done is inspiring!

The most challenging part of this job is that every day is different. I’ll always remember the time we got an urgent blood consignment to Christchurch hospital, complete with police escorts, to help save a critically ill baby. It’s an amazing feeling to tell your team that they’ve helped save a life. And for Pace, that’s just another day.

Brett Perkins
Auckland Branch/Sales Manager

I’ve been in the courier industry since 1987. Some people ask me if there was even a courier industry back then!!

Since 2000 I have had a fantastic journey with Pace. During that time I’ve had various roles from contracting as a owner driver, operations and sales management and a system integration project management. I’ve been extremely lucky to be part of the team that has shaped Pace into the successful business it is today.

What I love about Pace? I enjoy coming to work and dealing with a dedicated team who work hard to make Pace happen, I enjoy the people I meet every day in my role as sales manager and the pleasure you get when a customer calls to thank Pace for going that extra mile to deliver their items.

At Pace its different every day. From moving urgent medical goods from Auckland to Christchurch in 3 hours to getting that crucial engine part from supplier to mechanic, you never know what each day will bring. Working in an environment like that is what I enjoy about Pace and its people.

Steven Craig
Wellington Branch Manager

I’ve been in the courier industry since about 1990, and in my current role for about 10 years. In that time I’ve helped Pace deliver everything from donated organs to red roses to All Black itineraries. Nothing surprises me anymore!

What I enjoy most is that when you work for Pace, every day is different and every day presents its own challenges. There’s no set of rules – we just work out the most direct and effective way to deliver our customer's items. And we do it every single day.

I have been involved in the courier industry for the past 9 years, with Pace Christchurch for the last 2 years and have loved every minute. You can’t often say to people that you don’t have a problem getting out of bed in the morning and going to work, but I honestly can, and often do, tell people “I love my job”.

There is never a dull moment within a day at Pace, there is always something different that will come along to challenge you. The thing I really love is the buzz you get when we have done ‘that job’ - the one the customer didn’t think was possible but really does need to get done!
