Here's the half year report card from Pace's electric car which has been a stunning success.
You might have seen a TVNZ Close Up segment recently show casing the Mitsubishi IMiEV that Pace has been using since last September. If you missed it here’s the link to see a second look.
The electric car has exceeded our expectations. Travelling over 100kms per day at a daily electrical recharge cost of $1.50 this has made the IMiEV a very efficient vehicle for around town courier work.
Marty Wheeler, General Manager Pace says it’s part of the groups focus on sustainability leadership in the industry. We’re constantly looking for ways to run our fleet more efficiently. The opportunity trial an electric car has turned out to be so successful we are now looking to the possible future of more of these vehicles in our fleet.
If you’re living in Wellington, keep an eye out for the Pace electric car!
Background
As part of our commitment to sustainability Pace has introduced NZs first electric courier vehicle. Partnering with the Wellington City Council, Pace is using one of eight leading edge electric cars from Mitsubishi in Japan with the Mitsubishi IMiEV vehicles are the very latest in electric car technology.
Partnering with Wellington City Council and Meridian Energy means that the new clean technology meets the highest standards of sustainability through it’s use of renewable energy.
Alan Piper, General Manager, Pace said “We are very excited by this opportunity. Fuel remains a major part of any couriers cost base and we have been working hard to ensure that all couriers at Pace are driving modern and fuel efficient vehicles. The chance to trial a vehicle that has no fuel or carbon emissions was too good an opportunity to turn down. This could change the face of the courier industry as we know it today”.
